The more I see of his weird behavior, the more I believe that it's all a hoax.

I watched this yesterday and thought it was one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever watched. I don't know about it being a hoax or not, but having watch Joaquin Phoenix decline slowly over the last few months, I'm not sure that it is. In October of last year he said he was retiring from making movies and it was after that that I started to notice how bad he looked. My guess is that he decided not to do movies anymore after Two Lovers was finished filming, but was probably under contract to promote the film.
So, here is what I think was going on: 1) He is notoriously shy and uncomfortable being interviewed. 2) He CLEARLY didn't want to be there, but probably had to promote the film (notice all the sighing and slouching) 3)He's on something.
I could be wrong. But, he doesn't seem like the type to go for a hoax for promotional purposes. I am sad for him - he is clearly unhappy.
I'm sure this is more than you ever wanted to know. I would be interested to hear our friend RC's thoughts on the matter...
